Privacy Policy
Wordwreath is a daily word ring puzzle run by [company name to come] ("we", "us"), a small company based in the United States. This policy explains, in plain English, what information we collect when you play at https://wordwreath-game.pages.dev, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can play without an account. Your streak and progress live in your own browser.
- Premium subscriptions aren't open yet, so we don't ask for your email or payment details.
- When subscriptions open, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor, and we'll update this policy first to say exactly what we collect.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.
- Want your data deleted? Email [contact to come].
1. What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you use Wordwreath, that can include:
- Game progress stored on your device, such as your streak, stats and settings (see section 2).
- Technical request data, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, which our hosting provider processes to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Messages you send us, for example when you email support.
Premium subscriptions aren't open yet. When they open, we'll also need some details to link a subscription to you and manage it (see sections 3 and 4), and we'll update this policy before we collect them.
2. Local storage on your device
We use your browser's local storage to save your streak, progress, stats and settings on your device, so the game remembers where you left off. This information stays in your browser. It isn't used for advertising or to track you across other websites.
You can delete it anytime by clearing your browser's site data for https://wordwreath-game.pages.dev. Heads up: that also resets your streak and progress on that device.
3. Accounts and subscriptions
There are no player accounts, and you don't need one to play the free daily puzzle. Premium subscriptions aren't open yet. When they open, we'll explain exactly what information is needed to subscribe, how we use it (for example, to send receipts and renewal or price-change notices) and how to cancel, and we'll update this policy before collecting anything new. We won't send you marketing emails unless you choose to receive them, and you'll always be able to unsubscribe.
4. Payments
We don't take payments today. When subscriptions open, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor. You'll give your card or payment details directly to that processor, which handles them under its own privacy policy and security standards. We won't receive or store your full card number. We may receive limited details from the processor, such as the last four digits of your card, its expiration date, your billing country and whether a payment succeeded, so we can manage your subscription.
5. How we use information
- To run the game and remember your progress
- To provide Premium features and manage your subscription
- To respond to your questions and support requests
- To keep the game secure and prevent fraud or abuse
- To meet our legal obligations
6. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We only share information:
- With service providers who help us run the game, such as our hosting and email providers and, once subscriptions open, our payment processor. They may only use it to provide services to us.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our players, the public or [company name to come].
- If [company name to come] is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
When you use the Share button, you choose what to post and where. Shared results are a spoiler-free summary and don't include your email address.
7. How long we keep it
Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to help you. Once subscriptions open, we'll keep subscription information while your subscription is active, and afterward only as long as we need it for legal, tax, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons. Technical request data is kept by our hosting provider under its own retention practices. Data in your browser's local storage stays there until you clear it.
8. Children's privacy
Wordwreath is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children under 13 may not subscribe.
If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has given us personal information, email [contact to come] and we'll delete it promptly.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California (under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) and the European Economic Area or the UK (under the GDPR), you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that's inaccurate
- Delete your personal information
- Get a copy of your information in a portable format
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell or share it, but you can still ask)
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it
- Not be discriminated against for using any of these rights
To make a request, email [contact to come]. We may need to confirm your identity first, for example by checking that the request comes from the email address involved. You can also use an authorized agent where the law allows. We'll respond within the time the law requires. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as an opt-out request where required by law.
For players in the EEA and UK: we process your information to provide the service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interests in running and improving the game securely, to meet legal obligations, and with your consent where required. Your information is processed in the United States. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Deleting your data
To delete the personal information we hold about you, such as emails you've sent us, email [contact to come] from the address you used. If you have a Premium subscription, you can cancel any time, and we'll explain exactly how when subscriptions open. We may keep a limited record where the law requires it, such as payment records for tax purposes. To delete the progress saved on your device, clear your browser's site data for https://wordwreath-game.pages.dev.
11. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep what we collect small and safe.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll give you notice, for example on the site.
